An evil official named Haman gave orders that all Jews be killed. Esther's uncle, Mordechai, came to see Esther and ask for help. "You must save your people," he told her.
Esther did not eat or drink for three days. At last she put on her finest dress and stood before the king. She told him of Haman's evil plan, and pleaded for the safety of her people.
