Ezekiel

Even though the Israelites were greatly loved by the Lord, they did not always obey him. Then hard times came. Enemies captured the Israelites and took them away from their homeland.

God gave the prophet Ezekiel ja special vision of a valley filled with dry bones. "This is a picture of Israel," God told Ezekiel. "Your land is as dead as these bones, but it will live again. Tell the bones to form bodies. Then breathe on them, Ezekiel, so my Spirit can fill them with life."

God brought the people back and the nation of Israel lived again.

The name Ezekiel means "God is strong," but who could know the strength and power that the Lord chose to show to Judah? As Ezekiel watched the Lord’s work with dismay, he heard the Lord’s promise: "‘I will put My Spirit within you and you will come to life, and I will place you on your own land. Then you will know that I, the Lord, have spoken and done it,’ declares the Lord" (Ezekiel 37:14).
